I will miss just being able to say hello to Coach Wilson because he always made you feel appreciated and important. An unbelievable listener and Teacher, the positive impact that he had at Wichita State University, and on the many athletes he coached, can never be measured. He will definitely be missed.

Coach Wilson was a great mentor and pole vault coach to our grandson at WSU track and field. Gone to soon but will be remembered with kind thoughts.

When I think of Pat, I think of his easy-going style and pleasant smile. Did he ever get upset? Maybe, but probably in a gentlemanly way. I met him when he was a middle-school vaulter and he joined Andover track club. I announced his name some at State meet. Then he was at Friends, SE and finally at his alma mater. A pole vault junkie!! Hundreds of athletes were blessed to work with Pat. The world of track and the people at WSU will miss him. I know I will. Don Steffens

Prayers to the Wilson family. I have fond memories working with Pat back in the late 1990's and early 2000's at Wichita Southeast when he coached pole vaulters. The students loved him. He always made an impact with his positive words and his smile.

Family of Coach Pat Wilson, So sorry for your loss, you raised an outstanding person. Coach Wilson was very respected by everyone he came into contact with and we had many outstanding days at the Pole Vault Competitions, over many years. He is and will be greatly missed by all .

My son Kole high jumped for WSU 2017-2020. Like all of the WSU coaching staff, Coach Wilson made us feel like family from the first time we met. Coach Wilson and I hit it off immediately since we shared the love for the outdoors. He connected with student athletes from small towns across Kansas and the country because he was "Small town" in his beliefs and the way he coached and lived. As a parent of a student athlete, you knew he would be a coach that you wanted teaching your kid not only about athletics but also life. Genuine! He was an inspiration to us all as a coach and as a person. We will sure miss him.

Thanks again Coach!
