I just found out that Fr. Rhiney passed, was working on my geneology and didn't believe it, I just visited with him in June with my grand-daughter when I was down for my sister's funeral in Colwich. He was still (even with his pain) the most humble, holy priest I have met (along with his brother Fr. Ivan) I remember our skiing trips to the Ozarks, hunting quail at the ranch, and the year for Thanksgiving he was the one who realized my mother forgot the sugar in the pumkin pie. I was the flower girl at his ordination, I will miss your beautiful Christmas cards Fr. and your great counsel. Love Cousin Cathy

I have and will always have a special place in my heart for Fr. Riney. He gave me instructions and brought me into the Church 60 years ago this coming October at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Fr. Riney always knew me when I saw him. He was a holy and dedicated priest. He will be missed by so many family, friends and parishioners. Rest in Peace, Fr. Riney!

Fr. Rhiney was an amazing, humble, dedicated man, whom I was proud to call my great-uncle. The Eck "can-do" spirit and devotion to the Lord lives on. May we remember that as we mourn, he rejoices with his Lord and Savior. Many hugs to the family.

Rest In Peace Father Eck. You have been a true servant to your parish and parishioners. Even when your pain was at its peak, and every step you took was truly a struggle, you handled your duties and responsibilities with such respect, courage and dignity.
I was in devotions at midnight this last Winter and you came into Church through the front doors, I watched you carefully take each painful step from one pew to the next, only to stop and take a breath before preceding down our long aisle at Church all the way to the alter. At that moment, without you even knowing it, You made me realize that dying wasn't something that we should run away from or be scared of, it was just something we needed to prepare ourselves for. You were ready, you had prepared yourself for the moment of your death, and you were just waiting for your call to the promise of eternal happiness in paradise. What a lasting impression you made on me and many others who knew you. Your approach to death with the dignity in which you handled it is a true statement in the belief that you always taught us, "we know not the time nor the hour, and that our time on earth is just for a moment but life in eternity is forever. "
You have brought our parish so much strength, pride, support & comfort. You administered my First Confession, First Communion, Conformation and Marriage.
You shared in the joy of my pregnancies, giving a special blessing to me with each pregnancy, and the heartache in my miscarriages. You shared in some of the happiest moments of my life by baptizing my Children, making them "God's Child" and also some of the saddest times in my life when it was time to lay loved family & friends to rest.
As I'm writing this, with tears in my eye and a lump in my throat, I keep telling myself that you are happy. You are experiencing the happiness that we all hope to achieve someday and instead of being saddened by your passing we should rather be rejoicing in our belief that you are home.
Keep a watch over your flock and know that the parish you served loves you and we will always miss you.
You will always hold a special place in our hearts and be in our prayers.

I first met Fr Eck on the basketball court at Cathedral shortly after his ordination. He was a competitor. I teased him about having "educated elbows". What a caring priest for everyone. Yes, everyone. When praying for Fr. Eck I name an alternate - as I can't imagine him needing it. May he now rest in eternal peace and love.

Father Eck was a marvelous man, kind, devout, and available to everyone who came to him in need. His kind counsel and wonderful sense of humor served him well in his responsibilities as a priest. His legacy will live on through all whose lives he touched.

Fr. Eck married my mom and dad in 1952 and before marrying my parents, he gave my mom "Instructions". When I told her this morning that Fr. Eck had passed away - she cried. She thought so much of Fr. Eck and will miss him very much.
