Richard Landon "Dick" Gray

1924 - 2019

Richard Landon "Dick" Gray went to be with the Lord at 94 years of age on February 27, 2019 in Longmont, Colorado. He was born on Sept. 30, 1924 in Hamlet, Illinois to Landon and Fanny Gray. He graduated from Aledo High School and the Univ. of Illinois. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp and proudly served his country from 1943 - 1946. Upon return from WWII, having served in France and Germany, he carried a bottle of Chanel #5 home in an Army sock as a present for his soon-to-be wife ---Mary Eastman. They were married in 1947. After farming in Illinois for several years, the young couple moved to Colorado in 1953. Dick was co-owner of Highland Contractors and then of Western Pipe Supply in Boulder for many years. At retirement he was involved in the Longmont Kiwanis, a longtime volunteer at Longmont United Hospital and was a faithful servant at LifeBridge Christian Church. Dick and Mary were married for 70 years - until her death in 2017. He will be lovingly remembered by all as a quiet man of great integrity and faith. Dick is survived by brother Henry of Illinois; 3 daughters - Ellen Laurence (Norm) Greeley, Elysse Grinnell (Bruce) Longmont, Julie Tomlinson (Dan) Bigfork, Montana; 9 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Private burial will take place on a later date in Hamlet, Illinois. The family would like to invite those who knew and loved Dick to join them for a casual time of remembrance on April 6, 2019 at the home of Bruce and Elysse Grinnell, 1249 Fox Hill Dr, Longmont from 1-3 pm.
