Richard Jimenez Obituary

Jimenez, Richard Lee Richard Lee Jimenez, 70, passed away on October 12, 2017, at his home in Lenexa, KS. Richard was born on April 15, 1947 in Anthony, KS, to Frank and Antonia Jimenez. After high school in Wichita, KS, Richard enlisted in the United States Navy. He served from 1964 to 1974. Richard did a tour in Vietnam patrolling on the riverboats where he earned a Purple Heart. Richard received several accommodations as an engine man on the USS Remora. Richard retired from BNSF Railroad in 2012 where he belonged to the Pipefitters Union. He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Jimenez. He is survived by his mother, Antonia Jimenez; brother, Roger (Jodi) Jimenez; sisters, Stella (Ronald) Kilmer, Jeanette Fermin, Cynthia (James) Parsons; daughters, Megan Jimenez of Kansas City and Carly Jimenez of Fargo, ND; and seven grandchildren, Alexis, Claire, Madison, Remy, Sophie, Bol, and Bruce. A viewing will be begin at 4 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 19; Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 20, both at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 2801 S. Seneca, Wichita, KS. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery 610 S. Vassar St. in Wichita. Baker Funeral Home will be handling all arrangements. Condolences can be sent to www.bakerfhuc.com. In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions made to The American Cancer Society and Vietnam Vet of America, specifically for PTSD.

Sorry to hear of Richard's passing, my thoughts and prayers are with his family. Enjoyed getting to him during his time at the railroad. It's always sad to lose a friend, but even sadder to lose a fellow Vietnam Veteran. Rest In Peace Brother
