Barbara VanEckhardt Obituary
She was born Nov. 28, 1942 in Cheboygan, the daughter of Carl and Thelma (Clark) Bonnett. Barb married Herman VanEckhardt, who preceded her in death in 1975.
Barb had owned and operated Advance Title as well as Hammerin' Hanks bar for many years. She enjoyed sewing, canning, gardening, fishing, hunting, picking berries, baking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Stevenson of Petoskey; three step children, Patrick (Lisa) Bedell, Douglas (Lisa) Bedell and Darin Bedell; four sisters, Esther Martin, Shirley Hall, Pearl Bannantyne and Ellen VanSlembrouck; one brother, Gary Bonnett; eight grandchildren, Robert, Tyler, Christopher, Patrick, Danielle, Jonelle, Ella and Maggie; two great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Dylan and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Herman, Barb was preceded in death by her parents; her partner of over 30 years, Hank Bedell,;and three brothers, Ronald, Lawrence and Dale Bonnett.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of the Straits. Those wishing to sign an online register book are invited to do so atwww.stonefuneralhomeinc.com. Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
