Sonia Barton Obituary

Barton, Sonia, was born to Francisco & Dregoria (Villena) Yambao on Oct. 27, 1941 in Santa Rosa Laguna, Philippines. She died Jan. 31, 2009 at Wichita, KS at the age of 67. Sonia graduated from Santa Rosa High School and Far Eastern University, both in the Philippines. She loved getting together with her friends, movies, casinos and was very artistic, enjoying painting and her flower garden. Preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, James "Jim" Barton; infant daughter, Amber Lee; 1 brother; 2 sisters. She is survived by brother, Jose Yambao of Philippines; sisters, Nora Pryor of FL, Susan Oville & Maria Rita Wee, both of the Philippines; brother-in-law, Dick (Millie) Barton of KS; sister-in-law, Kathleen Shelton of KS; numerous nieces and nephews from the Philippines, US and Canada. Memorials have been established with American Diabetes Association and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Visitation will be Friday 4 to 8 p.m. and Rosary at 7 p.m, and Funeral Service Saturday 11:00 a.m., all at Old Mission Mortuary. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery. Sonia has touched so many lives so it didn't come as a surprise that on her last breath a lot of friends were by her bedside to say goodbye.
