Twila Marie Jefferies

BELLE PLAINE - Jefferies, Twila Marie (Gleason), 81, of rural Belle Plaine, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004 at home. She was born Oct. 22, 1922 in Lucerne, Putnam County, MO., the daughter of Fred Orval and Edith Crystal (Noland) Gleason. Twila attended school in Wichita and graduated from East High School. She was a retired office worker and homemaker. She was a member of the Wellington Church of Christ. On Oct. 25, 1942, she married Bennie Lee Jefferies at the South Emporia Church of Christ in Wichita. Preceded in death by her parents; stepfather; stepmother; sister, Lucille Wheeler; brothers, Basil, Albert and George Gleason. Survivors: husband, Bennie of the home; sons, Lawrence Wayne and wife, Donna, James Alan and wife, Gladys all of Belle Plaine; brother, Orval Gleason of Wichita; sister, Mary Loney of Lompoc, CA; grandchildren, Michelle and husband, Mike Medlin, Salena and husband, Bill Rotz, April, Ashley and Clayton Jefferies; 9 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at Wellington Church of Christ with Paul Hendrickson and T.J. Finley officiating. Graveside services 3 p.m. at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Wichita. A memorial has been established with the Maude Carpenter Children's Home in Wichita. Frank Funeral Home, Wellington is in charge of arrangements.
