Velma Deyoe Obituary

DODGE CITY - Deyoe, Velma L. 86, passed away on September 18, 2012 in Lakewood, Colorado. She was born to William and Inez (Griffin) Paul on August 23, 1926 on Sunset Valley Ranch north of Weskan, Kansas. After graduating from Weskan High School in 1944, she attended Fort hays State University, where she earned her B.A. in English in 1948. Her first job out of college was teaching English in Plainville Kansas, but for most of her life, she was a Health Information Manager, working at Dodge City Medical Center, Southwest Clinic, and later at Estes Park, Colorado. Velma married Fred Merlin Deyoe on June 2, 1947. They raised four children together in Dodge City, Kansas. A memorial service will be held at Coldwater United Methodist Church, 203 N. Philadelphia, Coldwater, Kansas, on Thursday, October 11, at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, Kansas.

Velma was a kind, extremely patient, and knowledgeable co-worker, teacher, and friend to me when I was learning to be a medical transcriptionist at EPMC. She will be sorely missed by all who had the good fortune to have known her. May the Lord comfort you and bring you peace during this time of grief. Velma had such a gracious and caring spirit about her . . . .
