Vicki Edwards

Edwards, Vicki (McCarty), 67, of Wichita died Saturday, August 10, 2013, surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. In her roles as mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend, Vicki brought an unmatched spirit and vitality that live inside of the people who loved her and will live long after even her descendants have passed. She was a confidant to her children and a friend when they reached adulthood. Vicki married the love of her life, Buddy Edwards, in 1996, and together they built a non-traditional yet tightly knit family. She refused to let her mind rest during retirement and always finished the crossword puzzle before getting out of bed. She enjoyed playing pickleball, cooking, reading, playing cards, and traveling with her grandchildren to show them her favorite places. Her greatest accomplishment was keeping her family close together. Vicki is survived by her husband, Buddy Edwards; her children, Bryan (Susan) Fairchild, Brooke (Monty) Ayala, Bridget (Jason) Ayala, Maury Edwards, and Nicole (Brian) Weber; her grandchildren, Ione and Brock Fairchild, Bridgette, Lauden, Vivienne, Adam, Ava, Adrienne, and Olivia Ayala; and her siblings, Janie (Doug) Helt, Patrick (Elaine) McCarty, and Rebecca (Jim) Logue. Vicki was preceded in death by her parents and beloved son, Blake. A celebration of Vicki's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Chapel Hill Fellowship, 1550 N.
