Memories of my good friend of some sixty years include his years in the American Legion Drum & Bugle Corps where his talents helped the Corp win several awards. The last time I was in Wichita we played golf and enjoyed the stories of being in the Chartered Train to Miami in 1948 where Bill and
Marilyn put together a little romance
that lasted from then until eternity.
Marilyn was a great "Twirler" with the
Corp and Bill told me, "I may marry that little beauty." So many more memories but sufice it to say "my catcher" decided to join the Duke for a little game.

Bill, I am going to miss your golf game, your vibrant sense of humor, and your down-to-earth view of life. You were a great friend. We were blessed to cross paths, and I will forever be grateful for our many days together.

Marilyn: I was a good friend of Bill's during High School and especially during the Kern's years and after. He was a great guy and I know you will miss him a lot. My sympathy to you and your family.
