Alan Nichols Obituary

Alan Dale "Nick" Nichols, 49, of Kansas City, KS, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Providence Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 13, at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS. Burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Alan's Four Daughters' Education Fund, c/o Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS 66102. Alan was born July 4, 1953 in Kansas City, KS and had been a lifetime resident. He was a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years. Recently he received the Hometown Hero Award. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and the Letter Carrier's Union. Alan loved coaching softball and all aspects of the sports. He was a lifelong fan of KU. He was a member of the White Church Christian Church and presently the Chairman of the Board and an Elder. Alan was preceded in death by his father, Donald M. Nichols, in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Sue Nichols of the home; four daughters, Kelly, Melissa, Stephanie and Allie Sue; grandson, Dylan; mother, Eileen Nichols, Kansas City, KS; sister, Patty Morris, Kansas City, KS; brother, David and wife, Susan Nichols, Kansas City, MO; nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. Alan was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. He will be greatly missed by all. (Arr: Porter Funeral Home, (913) 621-6400)
