ALEX CARNEY Obituary

ALEX CHRISTOPHER CARNEY Alex Christopher Carney, 15, of Prairie Village, KS, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Visitation will be from 6-7:00 PM Tuesday, February 20th at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 10100 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS with Memorial Services following. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Nall Avenue Baptist Church Benevolence Fund. Alex was born April 5, 2002, to Chris and Beth (Bumgartner) Carney. He attended Shawnee Mission East, where he played football. Alex was a member of Nall Avenue Baptist church and enjoyed helping with the Upward Sports Program. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Sharon Marsee and his cousin Chad Coen. Alex is survived by his parents, his big sister Cadey Carney, maternal grandparents Phil and Judy Bumgartner, aunts and uncles: Matt (Connie) Carney, Betsy (Jeff) Hoffman, Ann (Tom) Gauthier, Clayt Carney, Eric (Tammy), Carney, Christie (Kevin Jordan) Coen, Amy (Zach) Liberman, cousins: Seth, Eliza, Evan, Faith, Isabella, Caroline C., Olivia, Ethan, Jessica, Chris, Jacob, and Caroline L. Despite receiving excellent medical care and the fact that Alex was a strong, strong kid, the severe extent of his injuries was too much. During his lifetime, Alex gave so much to others. Now he is giving the gift of life through organ donation. Our family is very grateful for everyone's continued prayers and thoughtfulness. We would like to thank the Prairie Village Police Department, Johnson County Fire and Med- Act, and all the local residents and passers-by who came to help. We would also like to thank the Saint Luke's Hospital trauma team neurosurgeons and all of the Neuroscience staff for the care of Alex. Arrangements: Porter Funeral Homes & Crematory, (913) 438-6444)

Alex it's been a hard few months without you. I think about you everyday and we all miss you so much. I don't get to walk with you in the halls anymore and that's something I miss more and more each day. I want your family to know how blessed I was to have been your friend.

One can only imagine the pain of losing a child. I'm very sorry to hear of your dear beloved lost. During this time I wish the words of the scriptures be of encouragement to you and the family when it says," may our Lord ...and our Father who loved us and gave us everlasting comfort and good hope...comfort your hearts and make you firm" 2 Thess.2:16,17

In the midst of your loss you have given hope to others. In December another family gave life to a member of our family. Please know that you have given so much in Alex's name, and your gift is an answer to prayers. May you achieve peace and may the memory of your beloved son be a blessing to your family.

Chris words cannot describe how sorry we were to hear about Alex. I heard so many wonderful things about him through Clay. I pray that God watches over and comforts you, Beth and Cadey.

Therefore you too now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one takes your joy away from you. JOHN 16:22

God Bless
