Beverly Ruiz, 78, Merriam, KS, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at the Shawnee Gardens Nursing Center, Shawnee, KS. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory; burial in the Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe, KS. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Dec. 5 at the funeral home. Beverly was born Feb. 8, 1934 in St. Joseph, MO, to John and Lulu Mae Curtin. In January 1971, Beverly started working in the radiology office at the University of Kansas Medical Center and retired in June 1996. She was a member of Bristol Hill United Methodist Church. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Ruiz, on Feb. 8, 1993. Survivors include her son, Gary Ruiz, Harrisonville, MO; daughter, Denise Shannon, Shawnee, KS; two sisters, Mary Lewis, St. Joseph, MO, and Judy Lyman, Chillicothe, MO; one grandson; four grandaughters; five great granddaughters and two great grandsons.
