Ann Faerber Obituary

Ann Bonecutter Faerber, age 77, of Shawnee Mission, Kan., passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 3 p.m. at The Village Presbyterian Church, Prairie Village, Kan. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America www.alzfdn.org Ann was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Pratt, Kan., to Orlin and Helen Bonecutter. She grew up in Wichita, Kan., and graduated from Wichita North High School in 1949. Ann attended The University of Kansas and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was a Fine Arts major and graduated in 1953. Ann met the "love of her life," Jack Faerber, at KU and they were married on June 13, 1953. Early on, Ann was an elementary school teacher and worked other jobs to help support Jack, who was attending Western Dental College (now UMKC). While being a devoted wife and mother, Ann was very active in the community. She served as President of The Junior League of Wyandotte and Johnson County from 1966-67 and was a docent at The Nelson Art Gallery. Ann was also a member of the Nall Hills Country Club, where she was an avid tennis player. Her life as a mother revolved around her two sons' school activities, sporting events, and later on, her grandchildren. At the same time she was a passionate gardener, antique collector, decorator and painter. Later on, Ann was an active member of Fireside, PEO and traveled extensively with her husband, Jack. She will be remembered for her warm manner, friendly laugh, and her generosity with friends and family. Ann was also very fond of her "beagle pups" and any other stray dog she encountered! She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Dr. H. Jack Faerber; her mother, Helen Bonecutter; and her father, Orlin E. Bonecutter. Ann is survived by her two sons, Dr. Tom Faerber and wife Ann of Mission Hills, KS, Dr. John Faerber and wife Kate of Prairie Village, KS; six grandchildren, Andrew Faerber, Lucy Faerber, Elliot Faerber, Jack Faerber, Max Faerber and Joseph Faerber. Her family would like to thank all of Ann's caregivers at Brighton Gardens for the past nine years. We really appreciate their thoughtfulness and care that they gave to Ann during her illness. Dear John and Tom,
I was at a party last night and an oral surgeon, Norman Burke, told me of your loosing your Mother. I immediately thought of all the good times we football Mothers had during the year 1973-1974, the coach John Davis years. What wonderful memories. The Beckloff family wishes to send our sincere sympathy. May God stay close to you at this most difficult time.

Dear Dr.John and Dr. Tom and Family, I was so saddened when I found out that Ann passed away this week. It was a privilege to know her and to meet all of you. I assisted in the opening of Marriott Brighton Gardens and met all of you as I was the Director of Marketing and Sales. Ann and I had lunch together a few times to get out of the community and I said how fortunate she was to have such a loving family. When I left to go and assist in the opening of The Helzberg Campus for Jewish Living, I had picked Ann up and drove her out to see where this campus was going to be built. I remember all of her friends who so deeply loved her. My deepest sympathy and a wish for many blessings to all of you this holiday season and through the New Year.
