Ann Dean Bentley Protzman

Ann Protzman Obituary

After a short battle with cancer and a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis, Ann Dean Bentley Protzman passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at her home in Overland Park, KS. She was 60 years old. Her family and many, many friends will remember Ann as a most remarkable person who endured years of physical hardship with a smile and a laugh, and who always thought of others before herself. She was a wonderful mother and, in the short time she was granted, she was a tremendous and devoted grandmother. She was strong in her Catholic faith. During her younger years, she was a flight attendant for TWA and a teacher, but her primary occupation throughout her life was mother to her children and to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who was fortunate enough to have crossed her path. Ann leaves behind her husband, Ron; her son, Alex and his wife, Kelly; her son, Andy and his wife, Pam, and their children, Ann's grandsons, Jack and Grant; her brother-in-law, Robert; her niece, Paige; her nephew, Scott; and five great-nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind far too many friends to mention, but who were always at the center of her life. Visitation will be Friday, October 31, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at McGilley State Line Memorial Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd., Kansas City, MO, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. The funeral services and Mass will be Saturday, November 1, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Church of the Ascension, 9510 W. 127th St., Overland Park, KS. The burial will be private. in lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Arthritis Foundation or to Catholic Charities Hospice. These donations may be sent in care of McGilley State Line Memorial Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145. (Arrangements: McGilley State Line Chapel, 816-942-6180)

To each one, is given a special mentor. Mine was Ann Bentley. When our daughter arrived I told Ann's mother, Wilma, we hoped our Julie ANN would be the daughter that her ANN had been. We will think fondly of Ann Bentley and often.

Ann was so warm and loving toward all of Alex's friends. I remember her always having a smile on her face and making us feel so welcome in her home. Alex, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Simply for knowing Ann and her family, my life has been greatly enriched. She was a "heart" friend and for that, I am grateful. I love you, Ann....

I feel so fortunate to have counted myself as one of Ann's many friends. Ann was one of the most caring and unselfish people that anyone could hope to meet. Ann had a special gift for bringing out the laughter in everyone. Ann and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
