Anthony Rizzi Obituary

Dr. Anthony "Tony" Michael Rizzi
November 24, 1932 - December 20, 2020
Lee's Summit, Missouri - Dr. Anthony "Tony" Michael Rizzi, age 88, from Lee's Summit, MO left his temporary home on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020. A man who devoted his life to serving God, family, and country. The loss of his earthly presence is mourned, but we pray for his soul to get quickly to heaven.
Tony was born on Thanksgiving Day Nov. 24, 1932 in a hospital in Elizabeth, N.J and raised in Kenilworth. His work as an officer in the Air Force led him to Kansas City, where he retired after 22 years of service in 1974. For many years after, Tony was a professor at Central Missouri State, now The University of Central Missouri.
Tony loved his entire family and enjoyed being with them. As the father of eight children, 25 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was loved by many. His 25 grandchildren affectionately called him "Nonno" and others "Pops". He cherished each child deeply as if they were the only one. Most of all, Tony loved God and his wife, Ann, with all his heart and all of his being.
Praise the Lord for Tony's life.
Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, there will be no visitation. A private funeral service for family only will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Independence, MO. A memorial mass and remembrance for friends and extended family will be held in the spring with date and time to be announced. In life as we grow older, we all hope to have made a difference. I can attest as a young man influenced by Dr. Rizzi that his influence was vast, sincere, and genuine. It was and is an honor to have known him and his family. The family is a living testament to the characteristics he brought forward every day. Those of us that knew him, and them, have been blessed with sterling examples of right from wrong, good from bad, and why one should choose one over the other. Why dedication, determination, and drive matters, as well as the manner in which we do them. I hope you were received as openly in heaven as I was in my youth into your home, I know of few as worthy as you Sir. To his family, friends, and the community at large, a great man has come and gone, he leaves behind a path well worth traveling ! To Cabrina, Raymond, and my dear friend Domenic, my heart and prayers are with each of you and yours, I wish you the very best during this difficult time !

Dr. Tony Rizzi was a good man devoted to God and his family. Dr. Rizzi is a model for Christian men because of his commitment to the Church, to his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also an educator who worked hard for his students. Dr. Rizzi served the Nation, as well. I was one of Dr. Rizzi´s students and the good way he lived his life was an inspiration to me and many others. Dr. Tony Rizzi was a blessing.
