Barbara Lawrence Obituary

Barbara Ann Burmood Lawrence

July 22, 1938 - November 9, 2024

Sarasota, Florida - Barbara Ann Burmood Lawrence, 86, drifted away peacefully while in the arms of her loving husband Chip on November 9, 2024, at their home in Sarasota, Florida.

Barbara (Barb) married George Durwood Lawrence, Jr. (Chip) on November 8, 1995, while standing on the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. Barb and Chip shared 29 beautiful years together.

Barb was born on July 22, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri to Arthur Ray Burmood and Hazel Ruth Buzzard, both deceased.

Barb had five children. She was preceded in death by her first daughter, Deborah Elaine Aamold Cormier (Debbie) and Debbie's husband, Charles Edouard Cormier. Barb is survived by her daughter Teresa (Teri) Ruth Aamold Shields and her husband Wayne Shields; and George Durwood Lawrence, III (Woody) and his wife Sarah Schroeder Lawrence; Sarah Grace Morgan and her husband David Morgan; and Scott Dickerson Lawrence and his wife Victoria Lawrence. Barb is also survived by her grandchildren Maria Cormier, Brandon Shields, Nicole Shields, Christy Shields, Samuel Lawrence, Jackson Lawrence, Derek Morgan, Cordelia Lawrence, Scarlett Lawrence, and Arden Lawrence; and by her great-grandchildren Jamie Thurmond, Naomi Marion, Chase Shields, Owen Vosler, and Addison Vosler.

Per her wishes, Barb will be cremated and interred in a private moment with Chip. There is a memorial for Barb in the Kingsville Cemetery in Kingsville, Missouri, where many other members of her family are buried.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you buy a book for a young person in your life to share Barb's love of reading with the world.
