Dear Ted and Sue,

I'm so sorry for your loss. When I heard the news I was shocked. I remember Ben as a bright, loveable boy back in the days when I was at Visitation and he was a friend of my son growing up.

I would most certainly like to contribute to the Ben Sullivan Memorial Fund in his memory. Please let me know the details to make a donation.

Depression is a terrible disease. And to lose a son so young must be unbearable. As a parent my heart goes out to you for this tragic loss.

Dear Ted & Sue,

My dear son John suffered this two years ago. They were both classmates at Bishop Miege but I do not believe they knew each other. John's twin cousin, Laura, is a bridge between both these wonderful and sensitive young men. There is a difference to this type of tragedy and sometimes it can be helpful to speak with someone who has been there. There is a local organization that has been helpful to my wife and I: www.sass-mokan.com. I (and or my wife) would be very willing to speak with you, if it would be something you want.

Sullivan Family - Seeing Ben at the Stations anniversary earlier this year was such a highlight. We spent a great evening reminiscing about old Stations days and talking about our lives. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time and I am so sorry I could not be here to help support you. Ben was a wonderful, intelligent person who brightened my life with his positive outlook and constant kindness. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.

Sullivan Family-

Though I never spent much time with Ben, I remember the positive spirit he brought to both the Visitation and Miege communities. He was a person that was intuitive to the needs of others, helpful, and always gave of himself. He contributed his many skills and talents, always sharing them with others.

I remember when I began debate and forensics at Miege how revered his name was in the community. The DeSeure's were always talking about him. I even remember Paula used to have a little tune to which she would sing "Ben Sullivan."

Following in the same path as Ben, attending both Visitation and Miege, he was a positive role model for me of what a person could accomplish with a good attitude and hard work.

I am so sorry for your loss. Ben was a very special person who contributed so much of himself to others. My thoughts and prayers are with you now and always.

November 13, 2009

I did not know Ben very well except for sharing classes with him at SLU. He always had a smile on his face and was very kind.

I would like to make a donation to the fund, but am not sure where I can do so. Is there anyway you can share more information?

To the Sullivan Family:

We met Ben through his friendship with the DeSeure family. What a charming and wonderful young man. We saw him in some of the productions at Bishop Miege, where his talent was obvious and he was a joy to watch. We share your pain and loss. The world has lost a great gift and Heaven has gained a brilliant new star. You are in our prayers.

It was a joy watching Ben grow from a young, shy boy to the kind and thoughtful man he became. We loved rooting him on as reached yet another achievement time and again and were just giddy at bragging about our friend, the rocket scientist. We are proud and grateful to have had him as a part of our lives and will sorely miss him. To Ted, Sue and Tim we offer our deepest sympathy and continued prayers. As Ted sang many times in "Stations" we remember that "our love is forever to keep us together, whatsoever." God bless you, Sullivans.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Sullivan and Tim:

Ben was my nephew Carleton Sherman's roomate and best mate at SLU. I met him at graduation - we saw him when he had to announce his own name for his degree before he walked across the stage! Carleton said that Ben really worked on his paper plane ( their balcony was involved somehow!) and it did fly high that afternoon in the gym! He spent a wonderful Fourth of July weekend in my sister's pool in Dallas - beautiful sunny days - surrounded by friends and our family. We enjoyed his wit , humor and bright intelligence. We always heard eclectic stories about Ben and Carleton - their cycling rides, cycling adventures , what could Carleton cook for them both , Ben's tried and true cooking specialties and stories about their balcony! He was a true and loyal friend to Carleton. Know that they had many bright bright days. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Christina Mancuso

Dear Ted & Family -

I can't express in words the sadness I feel for your loss. Whenever we met at St. Luke's, I was always eager to hear an update on your sons and Ben's latest experience at NASA. My wife and I are getting ready to make a Thanksgiving trip to the Houston area near the NASA complex. If there is anything we can do for you while we are there, please let us know. Did Ben frequent a particular church there?

Please try to remember that the Lord is forever at your side. You and Ben will always be in our prayers...Mike & Cathy D.

Ben came into my life thru my son Carleton. I enjoyed seeing him at SLU and was happy to see him when he visited Carleton at our home in Dallas. A bright, warm thoughtful guy who had a positive impact on our life. It is difficult to accept that he has left us, that my son Carleton will not be riding bikes or camping out with Ben in the future from our home in Texas. The pain of couldas, shouldas, ifas will fade and the generous memories of Ben will take its proper place in our memories and heart. My best to his mom, dad, brother and other close relatives and all who loved and enjoyed him. gene davis/Dallas

Sullivan family,

I was saddened to hear the news of the loss of your son and brother.

I want you to know that Ben will be with you always...he will live on in spirit and you'll see that often in the things and people around you...and it will amaze and comfort you.

May the good Lord bring you peace and comfort today and during the tough days ahead. I pray that your faith remains strong. You may need to draw on it often.

I pass along this Psalm that a good friend passed on to me 4 years ago after we suddenly lost our 4 year old daughter Christine:

Psalm 34:18
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit.

As the passing days turn into months and years, you will certainly grow to understand what God means when He says 'Do not be afraid, I am with you...'

My heart is heavy today. I will keep Ben, the family and friends in my daily prayers. I know that your faith, family and friends will help you make it through this challenging and sorrowful time.

May the Peace and Grace of God be with you today and everyday.
