BEVERLY SIMPSON Obituary

Beverly A. Simpson was called home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2011. Beverly "Bev" Simpson was born September 12, 1943 to the union of Mr. & Mrs. Wilbert James Estell Sr. Her parent's father, Wilbert James Estell, Sr., mother James Effie Estell, and two sisters Willetta Jobe and Dorothy Estell preceded her in death. Memorial services will be held 10 AM., Wednesday October 12, 2011 at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Bev was born and raised in the Rosedale area of Kansas City, KS. She was educated in the Kansas City, KS, School District and graduated from Rosedale High School in 1961. Bev was employed as a QA Analyst with Blue Cross Blue Shield of KC for 34 years until her retirement in 2000. Shortly after her retirement she relocated to the city of Las Vegas, NV, where she lived for approximately 10 years. While residing in Las Vegas she truly enjoyed living her life to the fullest. She was a member of Calvary Southern Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Lawrence E Hailey. Bev moved back to Kansas City in 2011 to be with family and friends during her battle with cancer. Even though Bev was ill she handled her illness with a tremendous amount of grace and humility. Her faith kept her with a smile on her face daily and her loving and kind spirit was contagious to all that came in contact with her. She truly met no stranger and befriended all. Bev leaves to cherish her sweet memory; 2 sisters Joyce Estell and Jacquelyn Estell; 4 brothers Wilbert Estell Jr., Michael Estell (Doris), Robert Estell (Brenda) and Kenneth Estell, special niece Dena Estell, special nephew Darrell Jobe (Melisa) all of Kansas City. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and several dear friends and ex coworkers. Condolences may be sent to Beverly's website at www.maplehillfuneralhome.com

I cannot express the loss felt for both myself (Darlene and JoAnne, we Loved Bev and will be at a loss in our lives because even tho it had been years, at least 34 I can still see her smile and how she kept me from making bad decisions when there were better alternatives, her way was one of a guardian Angel and we will always remember her and impacted our lives. Please know that God is ever present with you during this time of loss. God Bless your Family Darlene Wells-Griffin

I am deeply saddened to hear about Ms. Bev's passing. She was a fun loving person and I enjoyed knowing and working with her over the last 29 years. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy. Joyce and Dena, I feel your pain but I know you have wonderful memories that will last you a lifetime. For all of the family I pray that you will feel God's presence and peace during this sorrowful time.

I met Bev about 3 yrs. ago at Grace Church. I immediately fell in love with her. She was such an inspiration to me personally! I was so saddened when she decided to move back to Las Vegas. I know that she was so ready to meet her Heavenly Father. We send our sincere sympathy to all of the family.

We had the pleasure of meeting Bev last year and we will miss her. Even though we knew her for just a short time, she made a lasting impression on all of us. Rest in peace, Bev. Denny, Joni, Christi and Dr. Brian Sutton.

To the family, please accept my heartfelt sympathy. Cherish the good times and memories. I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to work with Bev at Blue Cross and also even be a part of the team in the BMT clinic that provided care to her. God bless you all!
