Those Damn Fagan Kids
April 17, 2012
Keith and Pat were the only people who were not immediate members of the Bill Fagan family, who were present at his bedside when he passed away. Pop had a definite fondness for his cousin Keith, since he saw himself as an amateur Brain Surgeon when he wasn't busy being "The Bishop"...." too bad I had so many damn kids" he'd say...

I can't imagine anyone owing as much to my cousin Keith as I do... Through all the terrible neurosurgical circumstances I threw at him, he never gave up on me. And after each episode, where I would wake up from a coma, and he'd walk in the room and see that I was "back", we would just look at each other and start laughing about "cheating satan again".... I LOVED Keith Whittaker. I owe my life to him. And I think he made me funnier, somehow, each time he split my noggin open. His protege's have all done a great job on followup, but 'The Original' will always have a special place in my heart. Goodbye, Cousin. "Steady with that knife." And thank you Sharon Hughes for all your help!

Dear Family,
Dr. Whittaker cared for our son,Scott, in 1978 at St. Lukes following a fall from the high dive at our local swim pool fracturing his skull. He was stung by a bee prior to the fall. Dr. Whittaker was fantastic. We will always remember his wonderful care at that stressful time in our life. Scott recovered very well and is doing very well. He has lovely wife and four children.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

I have been a patient of Dr. Whittaker and know him as a man of no nonsense and straight talk. He will be missed by many. He did a great deal of good at St Lukes in volunteer work and was a good family man. I am still a patient of his son and know him to be a good man also. God Bless all of you. I will keep you in my prayers.

I am blessed to have been a patient of Dr. Whittaker's three decades ago. His compassion, unsurpassed skills, and dedication literally have made a difference in the rest of my life just has they have for countless others. Deepest sympathies are extended to his family.

I have so many memories, but the most important to me is receiving Communion from you the Sunday after my surgery. It was Grace and the Holy Spirit that walked through that door with you that morning. May you be in His Grace forever. My love and prayers and the love and prayers of my family are with Aunt Pat and my cousins.

I will always remember the Sunday dinners and Keith always interested in what I was doing and asking me how I was. He was such a dear sweet man. And I adored watching him with his grandchildren. He was like another father to me in many ways. I love you Keith. Love to my Aunt Pat and all my wonderful cousins. Love you guys. You are in our prayers.
