Dad,
I want you to know that you meant the world to everyone. You always had the way to make everyone feel better. You often put others before yourself in a selfish act of love.

You taught me so many things over the years and they all will remain within my heart. But the greatest thing you taught me was what it means to be a family.

Family is there in the ups and downs. Family is there to help you up when you fall flat on your face. Dad family is you. Through it all you been a guideing light in my life. And I know it may not always seem like I listened and went on ahead and did my thing. I want you to know that there was more then one occasion I went d**n dad was right.

You were always there and ready to lend that hand. You carried me through some rough times and yet you never complained. You were there to get me ready for school and to wipe my tears when I was sad. And you never complained. Through it all you were and are my daddy!!!!

I know your at peace and your no longer ill. Your among the family in the hearts and souls. Your in the heavens watching over us all. You had one h**l of a reunion in the skies above. Give them all my love and daddy I LOVE YOU and miss you.

Stop by and visit me anytime. I will be waiting.

Love you always,
Your baby girl

To the Long family: I can't express the amount of sorrow I feel for your loss. Although Cecil and I haven't seen each other for a while, I always knew, from an unspoken viewpoint, that he would be there if I ever needed him. From the time that I met one of my lifelong best friends (C.J.), until now, I was always welcomed into the fold by his parents and family. I was made to feel like part of their family. Cecil made me laugh and gave me a sense of ease whenever I had the honor of spending time with him. I could always be myself without question. I admired and respected Cecil for his candor and his honesty. I knew he would always shoot me straight. These are a few of the countless reasons that I considered him my friend. I want to take this time to Thank the Long family for allowing me to grow with them through the years and also Thank them for becoming part of my extended family for what seems like a long, and not so long, time ago. I love you all very much and like to think that I am a better man for having people like you in my life. I'm sorry that the course of life has not allowed me to spend as much time with you as we once enjoyed, but you should know that I still hold you close, with fond memories of days past. Cecil, I am proud to call you my friend and I will miss you dearly. You are extremely loved by many and I hope you find solace in a new and better place. So long my friend. I'll see you on the other side. May you rest in peace.

Sincerely,

Dawn Holmes

Dad, Thank you for all of your love and encouragement. You will be missed! I love you . . .

When I was about 10 years old, you gave me a plaque with the following words:

Long
You got it from your father, it was all he had to give. So it's yours to use and cherish, for as long as you may live. If you loose the watch he gave you , it can always be replaced. But a black mark on your name, son can never be erased. It was clean the day you took it, and a worthy name to bear. When he got it from his father, there was no dishonor there. So make sure you guard it wisely, after all is said and done. You'll be glad the name is spotless, when you give it to your son.

Thank you Dad. . .I will now give the plaque to Cameron and he can carry it on.

Love,
Your Son
