CHARLES CARTER Obituary

CARTER Charles Michael "Mike" Carter, 61, of Gladstone, Mo., passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at his home in the arms of his loving wife, Lisa. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the chapel. Private family inurnment in Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64137. Written memories from family and friends may be left at the chapel to be read by the celebrant at the service. Mike was born Jan. 31, 1949, in Atchison, Kan., the son of Audrey R. and Lena J. Speroni Carter. Mike was of veteran of the US Army serving as a dog handler. He was employed by TWA/American Airlines for 28 years prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents and former wife Kathy West Carter. Mike married Lisa Schoonover on May 6, 2006, in Platte City, Mo., she survives of the home. He is also survived by two daughters, Gail Anne and Lauren and a son, Lucas, sister, Gloria Jackson and two brothers, Don and Paul Carter. I was distraught and saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I worked with him at TWA and am now relocated to TX due to the AA buy-out. Sincere condolences to his family and may good memories comfort and keep you during this time of sadness.

Lisa, I am sorry for you loss, though I did not know you. I worked with Mike many, many years at TWA/AA. His sweet personality & sheepish grin always made me smile. His music & friendship will be greatly missed. God Bless.
