My sympathy to Chuck’s family. Your memories will keep him with you forever more. I knew Chuck when he was a young prosecutor for Kansas City’s Municipal Court and I worked for the Municipal Court judges as their secretary. Although that was years ago, we had lots of laughs and Chuck was a part of the fun. Rest In Peace Chuck.

Great video!

I can remember when we were working to get him appointed to the bench, John Williams and I were asked "HIM?" After all, he was a "prosecutor", you know. And not one of the smiley ones. What some of us knew was that -- beneath the gruff and occasionally politically-incorrect exterior -- beat a heart full of kindness and fairness. And a wickedly sly sense of humor.

I can remember when he and John went out and both bought tiny Triumph convertibles. No problem for John (six years younger, four inches shorter) but Chuck's back lasted about three months tooling around in his "toy car"!

I hated to see him leave KC, but Kelly made him absolutely bloom in the desert -- like a prickly cactus with a seven iron!

Damn good judge. Loyal friend. To have known him is to miss him because to have known him was a privilege.

"Chucky" was in my graduating class from Assumption Grade School. We were the last class allowed to graduate from 7th grade to go onto high school (under the old rules). We were so young. Assumption produced many very good folks but It was always great to follow his Honor's successes throughout the years. God's blessings to all.

Kelly, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Before I went to law school, I tried a traffic case pro se before Judge DeFeo. I was charged with being in a left hand turn lane and not making the turn. I had a letter from the city stating the signage was placed incorrectly. Judge DeFeo asked a number of questions about the letter and let it into evidence. I was found not guilty. He was a great asset to the legal community: straightforward and doing the right thing.

Kelly, I’m so sorry to hear about Chuck, he was such a good guy. The two of you were a beautifully matched pair, and John and I really loved all of our times together. Chuck was a good friend to John for many many years, and I know you must be heartbroken without him.

Chuck was such a nice man. It’s no wonder he was a judge. Our family always looked up to Chuck and what he was able to accomplish. We take a great deal of pride in our heritage as Italian Americans when one of our own rises to such great heights. Thank you Chuck for setting an example for all of us. You will truly be missed.
Kelly, we are so sorry for the loss of Chuck. Our love and prayers are with you through this difficult period. Try to find refuge in the fact that we will see our loved ones again.
