He married his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Mulford Waldron, in 1937, and they had resided in the Kansas City area ever since then, except during his service in World War II. As a young boy, he was Boy Scout aide to General John J. Pershing at the 1921 site dedication of the Liberty Memorial Museum and Monument in Kansas City. From 1981 to 1991, Colonel Waldron served as Governor of the Board of Trustees of the Liberty Memorial Association. He was an Eagle Scout, and was active in scouting programs his whole life, including the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, where he was known by the name "Clear Eye." Waldron was the great-great grandson of Thomas A. Smart, the patriarch of one of the ten founding families of Kansas City. He is survived by his son, Charles E. Waldron, III, of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Mulford Waldron; his daughter, Elizabeth Waldron Chinnery; and two sisters, Caroline Waldron Coleman and Martha Waldron Smith.
