D. Charlene Robeson Walsh
June 22, 1931 - June 16, 2023
Kansas City, Missouri - Charlene Walsh passed away peacefully on June 16, 2023. Born June 22, 1931, in Holt, MO, she was the second of four children of William David and Lucille Ophelia (Tabor) Robeson.
In 1949, she graduated Holt High School, moved to Kansas City and went to work for City National Bank. She worked in credit finance and for many years was active in the Credit Women's Breakfast Club, a national professional enrichment association. In 1965, she was elected District 7 president for MO, KS, ARK and OK.
In 1968, Charlene married Edward F. (Ned) Walsh III and the couple made their home in the Brookside area. In 1971, she gave birth to their son, Chip. Over the next several years, she devoted herself to raising their son whether as a church or school volunteer, cub scout mother or a reluctant camper during his time in the boy scouts.
In 1984, she went to work for the J.C. Nichols Company and retired in 1994. Retirement did not take & over the next 20 years she worked in retail sales for Saks Fifth Avenue, Jacobson's, Jack Henry's & Hall's.
Charlene was an avid tennis player & member of the Rockhill Tennis Club, member of the Village Presbyterian Church & volunteer at the Nelson-Atkins Museum.
Charlene is preceded in death by her husband Ned Walsh (44 years); her parents; sister Arlene Younger; brothers, Billy Robeson & Buddy Robeson; & brother-in-law, Jim Younger.
She is survived by her son Edward F. (Chip) Walsh IV (Kansas City, MO); sisters-in-law Lydia Robeson (Holt, MO), & Joyce Robeson (Adams, NE) & several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, June 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, KS. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Village Church Memorial Fund are requested.
