I met Daniel many years ago. He brought his mother to our ER several times for treatment. I got to know Daniel pretty well over the years. I am saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with his family and many friends.

My earliest memory of a cousin is playing Mike-n-Ikes with Danny. We had a really good time whenever Uncle Kenneth would come out to California to go fishing with my dad, Wes Bickford. I remember that when we would go down to Mexico to fish they always had to bring Danny's birth certificate with them because Danny was such a dark, handsome guy - unlike everyone else in the car!
We were all lucky to know Danny and we'll all miss him.

I knew Dan since Julie & Kenneth adopted him. I often spent weeks at a time staying with the Amelungs, through my grade-school years.
Dan overcame severe hearing difficulties and physical problems that plagued him most of his life. Those problems -- along with a trusting and generous nature -- sometimes allowed him to be taken advantage of. But he rose above that to became a reliable friend to many who had need of a friend.
His devoted care for Julie in her declining years was one of the best examples of filial devotion that I have ever seen, and is an inspiration to all who knew them.
