DANIEL HAYWORTH Obituary

Daniel R. Hayworth, age 51, of Diamond, Mo., passed away at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2010, following a sudden illness. Dan was born March 21, 1959, in Albuquerque, N.M., and moved to the Joplin area in 1985 from Weston, Mo. Dan received his bachelor of arts in music in 1982, and his master's in business administration in 1985 from the University of Missouri Kansas City. Dan practiced as a CPA with BKD in Joplin for over 25 years. He was a member of BKD National Construction & Real Estate Group, BKD National Manufacturing & Distribution Group, as well as WealthPlan team. Dan provided accounting, income tax and consulting services to construction, manufacturing and transportation companies. He was very passionate and dedicated in working with and serving clients of his and others and was always focused on providing value to clients and making processes better. Dan proudly and enthusiastically served in a great number of roles during his professional career, including leading the Joplin technology practice, providing nationwide operational consulting services to manufacturers, distributors and contractors and mentoring others in this area with BKD, and providing accounting and tax services and advice to numerous clients. Dan was particularly well known and respected among his clients and BKD associates for his operational consulting expertise and ability to efficiently and directly get to the heart of and propose practical solutions to a problem. Dan was a member of the College Heights Christian Church of Joplin. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) and American Production and Inventory Control Society. Dan was the chair-elect for the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He also served on the board and finance committee of the Community Health Clinic of Joplin and on the Missouri Southern State University School of Business advisory board. He was past president of the Southwest Chapter of Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants and past chair of BKD's firm-wide Management & Distribution Industry Committee. Dan was a loving and adoring husband to his wife Lynn, and their three beloved dogs, Ginger, Coco, and Dot. An extraordinary son and brother to his family and a true trusted advisor to his many clients, co-workers, business associated and friends, he will be terribly missed by all. Dan married Lynn Fansler October 1, 1988, in Joplin, and she survives. Additional survivors include one son, Jason Driskell and wife Catherine, Weston, Mo.; his mother, Mary Hayworth, Weston, Mo.; a sister, Lynette Foltz and husband Thomas, Weston, Mo.; two brothers, Carl Hayworth and wife Susan, and Robert Hayworth, all of Longview, Texas; two grandchildren, Devin and Ava Driskell. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the College Heights Christian Church, with Randy Gariss, Minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Stone Cemetery near Diamond, Mo. Pallbearers will be Carl Hayworth, Robert Hayworth, Thomas Foltz, Jason Driskell, Jerry Davis, Charles Rodgers and Jim Brown. Partners and associates of BKD will be seated together as a group. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Joplin Humane Society, Joplin Community Health Clinic, or College Heights Christian Church in care of the mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
