Dear Dick and Helen,
We did not learn of Dan's death until yesterday. Our son Sam told us that Coach Bender had not been at football camp because his father in law had passed away. We then realized that Dan had lost his battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We can tell by the many messages in this guest book, that Dan touched many lives.

Susan and Family,
Upon our return from a camping trip, we were deeply saddened to hear of Dan's passing. Dan was always a very special person to us from the Police Academy to the bookstore. We pray and trust that God will send you the Holy Comforter, and know that Dan has found Peace and light eternal.

Susan, Kris and I were out of town the week of the service and we were sorry to not be able to be there. We both knew Dan from Baker and had heard what he was dealing with concerning Cancer. Our deepest sympathies and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Susan, Lisa, and Laura,
Our minds have been flooded all week with WONDERFUL memories of a man whose life mirrored the character of Christ. Our lives are to be living examples of Christ, and Danny lived out that example fully. The Fruits of the Spirit were very evident in his life. Our prayer is that God's grace would abound to you, even now. Your whole family holds a special place in our hearts. Susan and the girls, we will be praying for you. Dan, we are looking forward to one day seeing that twinkle in your eyes again! We love you all!

Susan,
I can't tell you how much I am saddened by Dan's passing last week while I was out of the country. Dan was a close friend and confidant. He was a true man of God, and cared for others like family. Take comfort that he is greeting people in heaven with that incredible smile of his. May God protect, guide and comfort you until you are reunited with him there.

I only learned of Danny's passing last night from my sisters, Susan Freedman and Peggy Illman. I so remember Danny welcoming me to Baker 30+ years ago and we chatted about my SME experiences and knowing his younger sis', Nancy. Keeping informed over the years of your accomplishments and the get togethers many of you had, makes me feel like it was only yesterday we were all in Baldwin. Though we did not know Dan, our prayers for him brought us closer to him and the family. Dan's passing is certainly a reminder of this comforting quote: "Don't tell God how big your storm is. Tell the storm how big your GOD is!" Though Dan's storm was cancer, Dan has indeed conquered it and is in the arms of Jesus. God bless you, Minteer Family!!!

Doc Caudill works for me. He has shared Dan's story with our office and kept us up to date regarding Dan. I want you to know that several of us from Mead O'Brien have been praying for the entire Minteer family. Doc shared a story with me this morning that when Dan would wake up the first thing he would ask is "Am I healed yet?" I beleive that when Dan closed his eyes for the last time on this earth, when he awoke in that land across the crystal sea his Heavenly Father answered, "yes, my good and faithful servant, you are healed. Welcome home".
My sincere thoughts and prayers are with the Minteer family and I rejoice with you in knowing that today Dan is breathing celestial air.

Susan, I was out of town when I learned that Danny had lost the bravest of all his fights. His warm smile and gracious personality will reside in each of us who had the chance to know him and through our fraternity be his brother. I was Tim Caudill's classmate from 1st grade through high school. Ask him if he still remembers why I gave him the nickname "Doc."

I am a classmate of Tim Caudill's from High School and have been in his prayer chain for sometime. I have been keeping you and Dan in my prayers daily. To the Minteer Family...Few people in the world of ciminal justice are as nice, caring and considerate as Dan Minteer. He always had a smile on his face when he visited the District Attorney's Office. He brought a little bit of sunshine into our lives. Susan and Family: It was with great sadness that I learned of Danny's passing. I have fond memories of the time we spent together in high school and at the campus radio station at Baker. And although our lives took different paths, I feel fortunate that we both ended up back home in vocations that assured us of running into one another on occasion. Our friendship with Dan and Susan began a little over ten years ago as we went to the same church. Dan talked Jerry into going skiing the first time and he was instantly hooked. After that we begin to go together (sometimes just the 4 of us) to Colorado. We loved Dan and we will never forget his big grin and how he was always helping out with any and all needs at Hope Alive - you could always count on him!!! Dan was full of life, loved Jesus and was a man of the utmost integrity. Dan, this isn't goodbye it is "we will see you again in heaven!!!"

I worked with Dan from 1997 until 2001 at OPPD. He always had a smile and encouraging word. I remember that Dan never let rank interfere with his personal relationships and always was kind and caring.

Dan was a great person. A true hero in every sense of the word. I enjoyed the short time I worked with him at the Police Department and the many years of knowing him through my husband Dan C. He was in the daily prayers of my 6th graders at Holy Cross this year. May God continue to bless Susan and the entire family.

Susan, Dan was my friend. He was a member of the first police academy class I directed in 1976. He ran situational training in the academy for several years.
