DANIEL MONCHIL Obituary

Daniel Monchil, 78, Kansas City, Kan., died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Providence Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 11001 Greenwood Drive, Lenexa, Kan. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Funeral Home. Pomen will be said at 7:30 p.m. Danny was born June 26, 1934 in Kansas City, Kan. He worked for the Kansas City Kansas Police for over 35 years, starting as a foot patrol officer on Minnesota Ave., with numerous promotions including patrol officer, motorcycle officer, traffic investigator, detective, homicide detective, metro squad, major in charge of vice and narcotics squad and he retired as deputy chief of police. He graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va. He attended St. George Church and was a former Choir member and Director. He loved to barbecue and enjoyed great food. Danny is survived by one son, Arch Deacon Mark Daniel Monchil of Belgrade, Serbia, one daughter, Karen Ann Monchil, Sedona, Ariz., one granddaughter, Angelea Beth Richter of Sedona, two brothers, John, Kansas City, Kan., and David Monchil, Ocala, Fla., two sisters, Martha Johnson, Kansas City, Kan., and Millie Steinberg, Miami Lakes, Fla. The family suggests contributions in lieu of flowers to: St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 11001 Greenwood St., Lenexa, KS 66215.
