David Downing Obituary
June 7, 1946 - January 30, 2023
Steamboat Springs, Colorado - David Allen Downing, long time resident of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully at his home in Steamboat Springs, CO, at the age of 77. David was born June 7, 1946 in Clarinda, IA, graduated from Warrensburg High School in 1964, and earned a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 1971. Deeply motivated to care for people, he served the Overland Park community as a pharmacist for over 40 years and continued practicing pharmacy after retiring to Steamboat. He enjoyed picking his banjo, a snifter of good scotch with dear friends, and found great joy in fishing for trout on the Yampa River.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and John, and his sister, Jane Werntz. He is survived by his wife Cammie, children Ethan (Kristi) Downing and Lindsay (Jack) Evans, and grandchildren Brynn and Boden Evans.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, and those who wish to honor him are encouraged to donate to the ALS Association in his name.

David was a wonderful friend and our pharmacist for 40 years. He was an avid cyclist and. Huge contributor to the MS Society and rode with the Cutters bicycle team every year in the MS Society. Our whole family loved Dave . He was so kind to our daughter Lindsey as he always cheered her up with her prescriptions. He was a dear friend and a kind person. He was devoted to his Family.
