DAVID LYNCH Obituary

DAVID R. LYNCH David (Robert) Lynch passed away at home, in his favorite chair, on Monday, February 19, 2018, from complications of COPD. Dave was born June 16, 1947, in Kansas City, MO, and served on the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department from Oct. 1, 1968, to Oct. 1, 1998, when he retired with 30 years of service. When Dave retired, the Police Department required law enforcement personnel to retire after 30 years of service regardless of their age so Dave was 51 when he retired. Dave served in numerous positions in the Department from patrolman to Lieutenant Colonel, which is the position he held when he retired. Dave received his BS Degree in Criminal Justice from Park College, and was highly respected by numerous law enforcement members throughout the country. David was predeceased by his parents, Clyde and June Lynch. Dave is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Pat Cannon Lynch of the home, his son, Dan Lynch (Mandy), four grandchildren, Noel, Drew, Rylan and Cecelia, Kansas City, MO. He is also survived by his sister, Pam Gray (Gene), Clinton, MO, nephew Christopher Gray (Ally), their children Ella and Hudson, Leawood, and nephew Jeffrey Gray, Overland Park. Dave was a beloved family man, loved all of their various pets through the years, and was devoted to his friends in and out of the Police Department. Dave chose not to pursue another career. He loved spending quality time with his family. He was a kind, generous, good hearted and witty man who never met a stranger. He will be missed terribly by all of his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, March 18, in the auditorium of the Regional Training Academy (new police academy), 6801 NE Pleasant Valley Road, Kansas City, MO. Visitation at 2 p.m. and celebration of life at 3 p.m. with recognition from the Police Department following his celebration of life. There will be no graveside services. Special gratitude goes to Dr. Andrea Anthony, Pulmonologist, and Dr. Zafir Hawa, Cardiologist, and the Pulmonary Rehab Department/team at North Kansas City Hospital for helping Dave to live a happy, busy, productive life with COPD. Flowers may be sent to the home, or a donation in his memory may be made to Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 29121, Parkville, MO 64152.
