David Todd Obituary

David E. Todd, 78, passed away Saturday, January 21, at his residence in Americus, Georgia. He was born Jan. 23, 1927, in Kansas City, the son of the late David M. and Pauline White Todd. Survivors include his children, David G. Todd and his wife, Emily, of Americus, GA and Fred F. Todd and his wife, Karen, of Carmel, IN; his sister Jeanne Todd Williams of Kansas City, MO; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Erma Dee Todd and Mardella M. Todd; his son Joseph A. Todd and his brother, Robert W. Todd. Mr. Todd was a member of the U.S. Marines and served in the Pacific during World War II. Upon returning home, the became a sheet metal worker. He was elected to the position of business agent by the Sheet Metal Workers Union of Kansas City. He was also elected to the position of secretary/treasurer of the Greater Kansas City Building and Construction Trades Council. He later joined the International Sheet Metal Workers Union as a staff representative, a position he held until his retirement. Mr. Todd was a Mason, a former scoutmaster of Troop #9 in North Kansas City, and served as an honorary colonel on the staff of Governor Warren Hearns. Services will be Friday, January 27 at Mount Washington Mausoleum Chapel, Visitation will be at 10 a.m. followed by Funeral Service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Todd requested that memorials be made to your local humane society.
