I remember Dave when Mary and Dr Waxse invited me to your home in Oswego as a child for a month. I thought is was so someone could be his catcher while he practiced pitching. Decades later Mary told me she kept me for that month when my mother (who was her good friend) was dying. I have always had great respect for Dave's Family.

Hi Judy,
It was my pleasure to cut Dave's hair, I really enjoyed his stories and his witty sense of humor. Thank you for coming by Monday to let me know and the gift. I often never know if a client has left this earth and I appreciate knowing. I'm very sorry for the loss of your husband and condolences to all of your family!

As an international student from Bolivia, I was warmly welcomed into the Waxse family home in the tiny town of Oswego, Kansas in 1963. All the Waxses were waiting for me at the airport in Oklahoma City. Paula, Sylvia and Joe squeezed next to me in the Chevy, wood-paneled station wagon en route to Oswego. I learned there was another Waxse who was training for his high school football team and could not make it to the airport. Later on that extremely hot August day at the house I met Dave. He was a giant mumbling his hi! He was shy and very tall. Dave was the tallest person I had met. He indeed was a giant, In sports and in life. He had a giant's heart and a giant's benevolent and compassionate heart. He truly believed that the rule of law and social justice should be the pillars of this --or any other society. He accomplished much in these mission, but he will be mostly remembered for his loving ways with friends and family. He never met a stranger. Rest in peace, dear brother. You earned it and we are blessed for having known you. I love you. Norma
