Dalhart Funeral Home & Cremation ServicesDarlene Campbell, 88, of Dalhart, Texas passed on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Darlene was born in Tishomingo, Oklahoma on January 4, 1938, to Jack Wilkinson and Evelyn Neal Bullard. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, Texas on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. Jeff Chisum will officiate. Arrangements have been entrusted to Dalhart Funeral Home.
Before the days of computerized sewing machines, Darlene kept herself very busy in the downtown store in Dalhart--Campbell’s Vacuum & Sewing Center. Embroidering and monogramming many dress shirts, jackets, sets of towels for graduation gifts and you name it. If it stood still long enough she could sew it with her trusty Bernina Sewing machine.
No one could whip up a quick and tasty meal like mom. She made the best chocolate chip cookies and of course always had an ice-cold glass in the freezer ready for the milk! When she cooked up the annual liver and onions the house had to be aired out. She loved music and one of our favorite memories as a family was seeing Elvis Presley in Amarillo.
But most of all Darlene loved her family and was a devoted and very proud mother of two sons and four grandchildren. She was always bragging and encouraging us boys and later her grandkids, who she never, never could get enough of.
Darlene is survived by her two sons Scott and wife Sonya of Dalhart, Stacy and wife Laura of Hays, KS., and grandchildren Tripper of Vernon, TX., Trista of Amarillo, TX., Mitchell of Overland Park, KS., and Bailey of Omaha, NE. Her beloved sister Judy Harrison and brother Jimmy Joe of Odessa, TX. and David Wilkinson of Amarillo.
Darleen is preceded in death by her parents Jack Wilkinson, Amarillo and Evelyn Bullard, Odessa, a brother Steve Wilkinson, Amarillo.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Amarillo Area Foundation, Dallam County 4-H Scholarship Fund (memo line), 919 S. Polk St., Amarillo, TX. 79101-3405.
