We went to strouds last saturday evening and couldn't find dennis, I asked the bartender where he was and I could tell by the look on his face that it wasn't good. We were deeply saddened. I have Known dennis for over 20 years and always enjoyed teasing him when he would come around calling other peoples names, I would say that was me. But he knew better. Lets just say I've been there alot. My wife and I sat there somberly the rest of the evening thinking of what a great guy he was. Always friendly, like family... We made a toast for dennis. I know he heard it. He's still there smilling at everyone. Great guy. He will be missed.

It was a very sad meal this past Thursday at Strouds N, when we were told of Dennis' passing. Anytime we return to KC, our first stop was Strouds and Dennis always treated as a very frequent customers, even though we were only able to stop once or twice per year. Even last Ocotber, Dennis had a freindly smile for us and a pat on the back. What a fight he put up.

GOD BLESS.

Our condolences to his family.

Toni and Family,

I cannot express the sorrow we feel for your loss. Dennis was a Great person and friend. We visited Stroud's at least 2 to 3 times a week for over 20 years before we moved to Florida 5 years ago. And, when we visited last September, again, we went to Stroud's to see Dennis. And, on each and every occassion, we were greeted with Dennis' warm smile that made us feel at home. Now, every time we wear our Stroud's t-shirts and hats, we will remember the good times we had with Dennis. You all are in our prayers.

May God Bless You!

I was really stunned to hear of Dennis death while sitting with some friends here in Ohio. I received a call from KC before moving here two years ago I was in Strouds at least once a week but usually twice Dennis will be missed by all. May the good Lord be with you in your time of mourning.

To Toni and family: Denny was a special person to all he came in contact with in all walks of his life. At my most recent visit to Stroud's we hugged and smiled-I'm so glad we did. He will always be remembered and lived a life that was truly inspirational.

To Denny's Family;

Ann sent a little note but I personally wanted you to know how much he will be missed. I really haven't seen Denny in much to long a time. But the good times, his smile, his sense of humor, I will remember always. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

So sorry to hear of the passing of my cousin, Denny. Although time has caused our family to lose touch - I will always remember our growing up years - as some of the first of the grandchildren. My sympathies are with you during this difficult time.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of Dennis's family and friends. There must be more than a million! Dennis always treated us as family and would talk about his love for his own family. I will never forget when we celebrated Matthew's birthday at Stroud's and Dennis had Matthew go to the bartender to get a Stroud's hat. His attentiveness and sincere love of people was never lost, no matter how busy things were. His courageous fight will always bring strength to the many he touched. May God be with you in you grief. We'll be praying for you all.

Very sorry to hear about Dennis. His Stroud's restaurant was second to none. He always made me feel right at home when I came in for Dinner. Out here in California I still wear the Stroud's hat. I always tell my friends when in Kansas City, Stroud's is the only place to go. Farewell my friend.

We are so sorry to hear about Mr. Donegan's passing. We saw him about a year and a half ago and he told us he had cancer. At the time, my sister had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. He asked about her, as he knew she was usually with us when we ate at Stroud's. He had a wonderful brave attitude. We all can learn from such a wonderful man. He was always friendly, positive and made you feel welcome at Stroud's. I know he will be sorely missed, but it is comforting to know he is in a better place. God Bless you all.

I am so sorry to hear about Dennis. I feel very fortunate that I got to see him the last time I was in KC. I would always schedule my plane to arrive in KC right around dinner time so that I might get a Stroud's dinner from Gabe and Mom. I will always think of Dennis as one of the very best examples of a true gentleman in our family.

We were truly sorry to learn of Denny's passing. As longtime customers of Stroud's we looked forward to his friendly greeting and personal attention given to all his customers. We considered him a friend. His courage throughout his illness was inspirational. We along with countless other friends will miss him. With sincere sympathy to his family.

Sorry to hear of Dennis' passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I didn't know him real well. He was a friendly acquaintance on several occasions. I have eaten at Strouds a lot over the last 10-15 yrs. I say a lot considering I live in the Wichita area. In all my trips to KC, to visit my dad, I bet I missed eating there twice in the last 10-15 yrs. I love going there for the food, the atmosphere, the history and the awesome staff that prepares and serves the meals. Strouds is like a home away from home as far as what they had to offer. For some it is probably better. I think after the first time I was there, Dennis new me, at least my face, from then on. He was great at what he did. I know he had everything to do with the success of Strouds. As a friendly face to a visitor from Wichita, Kansas, he will be missed. I am sure that God will love his chicken-noodle soup as much as I do. It is HEAVENLY!

To the Donegan Family, and his family at Strouds;

 Dennis will never be forgotten by the Barrera Family. He was there for every occasion we celebrated. We went to Strouds often and he always treated us like we were his family. His famous words I will personally never forget is "Let's Eat!" It will be difficult to visit Strouds for awhile, but we will always be thinking of all of you. God Bless

We have so many fun memories of Denny (and Mike and the old black plymouth). Remember when Sister Mary Simeon was a little annoyed that we were late to the Nelson Art Gallery because of a fender-bender? My favorite is the time when the battery was dry so they all decided to add Thunderbird wine (all they had at the time) to get it going again. A week later it blew up in the street outside the Mercer house.

Sorry we're not there in person to convey our condolences. Denny was a great guy and a good friend.

Dennis was a prince of a man. I have known him for many years. I loved to take my boys to eat at Stroud's because he always made us feel welcome. He was always messing with my sons.

I will miss him terribly. There are few people like him in the world.

It is just so hard to think that this bright bright light has gone out of this life. Yes, the good die young! The amazing courage that Dennis has shown these past few years has left an indelible mark on me and, I am sure, on all who knew him however well. As it was with his father, Uncle Paul, just to be near him aroused such a feeling that there was something special in him–an extra dose of humanity perhaps... He was a beautiful beautiful person.

Go with God, Dennis. Oh, how you will be missed, dear cousin...

I have so many wonderful memories of growing up with Denny and Mike, I even remember the winter we all built a toboggan to sled down the local streets. It was so heavy it wouldn't budge - but it did fit all of us. Denny was like a brother to me in high-school and college. I will cherish my memories of fun times together and offer my sincere condolences to all his family.

To the family of Denny

What a wonderful man Denny was. We will miss him greatly. Michael and I were married in 1984 and made it a tradition to always have our anniversary dinner at Strouds. Denny would make it something special every time. He would pick out a quiet corner for us and put a candle on our table.

Denny even joked with us by nicknaming us Dr. and Mrs. Rooks. and that is what he called us every time we went to Strouds.

We stress our deepist sorrow in the loss of your loved one, you and your family will be in our prayers during this difficult time.
