I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing and the void he has left to family, friends and strangers alike. From the other entries in this guest book, it looks like Don was not aware of how many people loved him and how many people whose day he made brighter just by his presence. Memories of yesterday cannot replace his presence but are comforting nonetheless. Deepest sympathy goes out to Suzie, Travis, and April from all of us at Brill Eye Center.

I can't believe I will never see you or have one of your warm bear hugs again. I am lost in my search for an answer of why you have this life this way. You were always a smile in the aisles at work, you have been one of my Hy
-Vee family members I have thought of often since I left back in March.I pray you have found peace my friend.
To Don's family,
I am deeply saddened the world has lost this wonderful man. Don had patience and a good heart for those less fortunate in life and in need. He was without a doubt one a kind; I pray the memories of your most fondest moments see you through this terrible time. He will be missed by many.

I didn't know Don personally, but I often stopped in at the HyVee gas station and he was always there with a smile and friendly word. I will miss seeing him, he was a constant in a chaotic world. I send my thoughts and prayers to his family and friends and all the other regulars that will sorely miss his kindness.

I am a regular at HyVee gas and Don was a very welcome reminder of kindness and gentleness. He always called me "darlin" and made me feel special no matter how early I arrived. We would exchange sports comments and brief comments about our teams. I will miss his presence and his kind words. Everyone at HyVee gas loved him and on numerous occassions would tell me that "Don is the best boss I have had". Even though Don just touched my life in passing he made a difference in my day.

The warmth and kindness-the generous spirit of Don Bowman will be remembered and treasured. Don touched many lives daily with his gentle smile. Don was never too busy to express his concern and care for others. He adored his employees who loved him in return. Don knew how to bring out the best in his young workers. Don made a positive impact in each day that I was blessed to share with him for brief moments. I know I am not the only daily visitor to his store who will so miss him...(it's not just the 'stuff', it's the friendships there!) Sending many prayers to Don's family during this difficult time. With Love, Vicki, Oscar and Porter

I worked with Don at Hy-vee gas for over ten years. He was a wonderful man who taught me more about life then my own father. He would do ANYTHING to put a smile on your face when you were down. He believed in me even when i didn't even believe in myself. I will miss him everyday, and miss coming in the station to him greeting me with a hug and "Hello Darling." My thoughts and prayters are with Susie and his entire family, he was TRULY a one of a kind man who will be missed by all, RIP "BIG GUY". Love always your gas station partner and friend Andrea Holmes
