Dora Harman Obituary
November 15, 1912 - April 6, 2003 Dora E. Harman, 90, passed away April 6, 2003, at the John Knox Village Care Center, Lee's Summit, MO, where she had resided since suffering a stroke in February, 2002. Graveside service and burial will be at the Bolckow Cemetery in Bolckow, MO at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003. The visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, April 10, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Rd., Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the John Knox Village Hospice, 508 NW Murray Rd., 109 E. Building, Lee's Summit, MO 64081. Dora was born on November 15, 1912 in Maitland, MO. She grew up in and around Bolckow, MO and was a member of the Bolckow Christian Church. As a result of testing, she skipped second and eighth grades, thereby, being promoted to high school at 13 years of age. She graduated from Bolckow High School in 1929 at 16 years of age with her first and second husbands who were two years older. She married Ragnar Hagg in 1930 and they had three children. Her earlier married life was spent on farms around Bolckow until moving to Kansas City, MO. They divorced and she raised her children as a single mother for many years. In 1951, at age 39, she married Jake Harman. Their married life, totaling 45 years was spent in Kansas City, MO until 1994 when they moved to John Knox Village. Jake passed away in 1996 and God has now called Dora home to join him. She was preceded in death by parents, Goldie Mae (Cook) and Charley Kirk Hale; sisters, Beulah Hughs and Joyce Chandler-Titcomb; first husband, Ragnar Hagg; second husband, Jake Harman; and stepson, L.D. Harman. She is survived by a brother, Charles Dean Hale and wife, Maryann of Savannah, MO; two daughters, Bonnie (Hagg) Ross and husband, Charles, Olathe, KS, Rosalie (Hagg) Stanley and husband, Bill, Kansas City North, MO; son, Dr. Gregory Hagg and wife, Linda of Mountainside, NJ; nine grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren, one great-greatgranddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Chris Ross, grandson, will officiate at the graveside service. Favorite hymns of Dora's will be sung by Nancy (Ross) White, granddaughter. Pallbearers will include grandsons, Todd Stanley, Jason Hagg and Andrew Hagg; nephews, Tom Hughs, Bill Titcomb and Bob Wolf.
