I was saddened to learn of Dorothy Ellen's death. We were classmates for many years in Carrollton schools. Our reunions were blessed with her beautiful smile and welcome. Reunions will never be the same without her. She was a wonderful person. Dorothy Jo

Rosalie, Charles, Susan and Cynthia, it is with a heavy heart that I extend my condolences to each of you and your families regarding the passing of your precious mother, my Great Aunt Dorothy. As I type her name a smile comes to my face as I envision her and her warm sweet smile.

When learning of her illness on the 3rd of February I walked quietly down the alley behind our home and gave thanks to the Lord for the times I spent as a young girl in Carrollton. Numerous times, as we have now chosen to live in-town Paola, I am reminded of my visits to Carrollton. There was a summer stay I had and then the weddings of the Laitner kiddos along with a time of watching the Super Bowl when I was so "cool" in my lime green corduroy pants and green poor boy style shirt. (Oh yes, I have a picture somewhere of Cindy and me on that glorious ocassion) I remember swimming at the Carrollton pool with Cindy as Susan was the life guard. I also remember many times being at my "Nana's" as Rosalie was there while going to school.

I always wanted a lot of cousins and through the extension of my mother's family I did get a lot of cousin's. You all will always hold a special place in my heart along with the memory of your parents.

I believe that your mother has joined her beloved Charlie along with my mom and dad in a place of eternity that has no illness or pain. You will miss her greatly and at those times may the memories you hold sustain and comfort you.

Love and prayers,
Robin (Rees) Paulsen

Grammie, you are sadly missed, and will always have a special place in my heart. The example of excellence that you set in everything that you did inspires me to be the best that I can be. You were also the kindest person that I have ever met. Though William only got to know you for a short time, I will make sure that he and all of his future siblings know of the example that you set for our entire family, of always doing the right thing.

Dear Laitner Family, Your Mother was very special to all who knew her. I have many happy memories of the good times with your Mother, Dad and your Mother's parents. I lived the 2nd door from your cousins Mildred and Carolyn Tatum and all of us played together. We have been friends since the second grade. I can remember going to my very first girl-boy party at your grandparent's farm. I can remember many times sitting in the swing on their front porch. Dorothy was a real help with Jean Moeller in our high school reunion plans and we will all miss her. Last year several of us were able to meet here in KC for lunch before the reunion. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. In Christ's Love, Mary Katherine Beebe McBride

I will always remember Mrs. Laitner as a wonderful Girl Scout leader. We were all accepted into her home, and given the chance to grow as young girls, and later years as promising young women. I never saw her without a smile, and her patience was unending. You had a wonderful mother!
