Dorothy Burke "Dodie" Whyte

Dorothy Whyte Obituary

Dodie was born in Kansas City, MO, on October 17, 1924. She attended J.C. Nichols elementary school and was graduated from Southwest High School and Monticello College in Alton, IL. Dodie was a Navy wife and homemaker. She lived in various places in the United States, including Leawood, KS, in the 1960s, and in Whittier, CA, where she was a shop owner and manager of antiques and collectibles. Dodie was married to David P. Whyte, whose Navy career took them to live in Guam, Japan, Spain and South Africa. She moved more recently from Woodland Park, CO, to Sun City, AZ, where she was a deacon at the Faith Presbyterian Church. She passed away on June 19, 2004. She is survived by her husband, David P. Whyte of 59 years; daughter, Pamela Dee Whyte, grandson, Lucas Whyte Gordon, great-grandson, Zeffire Gordon. She was preceded in death by four days by her brother, Gordon (Bud) Burke. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Faith Presbyterian Church, 16000 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ 85351-1699.
