EDWARD (TED) MELVIN TRAPP Edward (Ted) Melvin Trapp of Rancho Viejo, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at South Texas Rehabilitation Hospital. Ted, with his wife of 69 years, Margaret, had been the owner and operator of Rancho Viejo Resort & Country Club for over 32 years. Ted loved golf and was proud of his 5 holes-in- one. Prior to coming to The Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas, Ted was the owner and operator of T.M.T. Inc., a construction company that operated throughout Kansas City and the Midwest. T.M.T. Inc. completed work on major shopping centers/malls, Venture Stores, McDonalds Restaurants & public projects as well as site-work, earthworks & excavation on local industrial parks, and K-Marts throughout the Midwest and Southern United States. T.M.T. Inc. also did the development work on its own projects. Ted Trapp crossed the Pacific as quartermaster on board the U.S.S. Mackinac, AVP-13, of the Third Fleet, under W.F. Halsey, and was one of the first ships to enter Tokyo Bay in anticipation of the Japanese surrender. Ted's parents, Robert Trapp, the professional hockey player and his wife Noreen were from Canada. Ted was born in Longview Washington and lived in Chicago, Illinois, Tulsa Oklahoma and Pawtucket, Rhode Island, before arriving in Kansas City, Missouri. He courted Margaret Urech as a youngster in Kansas City, Missouri and married her in 1947, after returning from his service in World War II. As an adult and businessman, Ted and his family lived in Overland Park, Kansas and were members of Cure of Ars Parish. Ted leaves his wife and prized possession, Margaret Theresa Trapp, his #1 son, Timothy Trapp, Tim's wife, Mary Ann, three grandchildren, Travis Trapp of Edinburgh, Texas, Lori Ann Trapp Goodner of Rancho Viejo, Texas, and Emily Trapp of Austin, Texas, as well as two great grandchildren, Caleb & Aidan Goodner. He also leaves his sisters, Doreen Moore Botz and Joanne Bolin Lamping of Overland Park, his nephews, Ted Bolin of Kansas City, Missouri, Tom Bolin of Overland Park, Kansas & his niece Theresa Bolin Taylor of Blue Springs, Missouri. Special thanks go to the Trapp's housekeeper of 20 years, Carmen Leal, care taker, Rosario (Rosie) E. Martinez and the staff at South Texas Rehabilitation Hospital.
