Elena Ramirez Obituary

Elena J. Ramirez, passed away Sept. 15, 2008. She leaves behind daughters, Carmelita M. and Maggie A.; sons, Miguel G., Daniel G., and Jose G. (spouses respectfully); grandchildren, Raquel G., Eliseo M. Jr., Priscilla G., Yesenia G., Isabel A, and I. Max A.; parents, Jose and Lucy Torres; 4 brothers and 4 sisters as well as many nieces and nephews. Elena worked with Jackson County for 28 years and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church and a Spanish choir director for more than 15 years. She was loved by all and will be missed dearly. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16th at McGilley Midtown Chapel. Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17th at Our Lady of Peace, 1029 Bennington, KCMO. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. (Arr. Carm, Maggie, Daniel & Jose, I am so sorry for your loss. I know you will all pull together during this time, that is what will get you through all the hard days to come. Aunt Elena was like a mother to me in many ways. She was there for me when I needed her as I am sure she was for everyone. You all are in my thoughts & prayers everyday. To Elena’s beautiful family,
I don't know what to say other than that I am deeply sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine what pain and suffering you are going through. The only thing about death is that it can either make you stronger knowing that you can make it through such heart ache or it can pull you down deep within its core and take you down with it. Be strong and hang in there. This is a time for family to come together, and unite your love of one another. Your family will pull through this as long as you help each other through this tough time. We are so sorry for your loss. I got to see your mother a few times in these last few months when she was at Alicia's learning spanish. She always had her usual smile on her face and she was so warm with my children. I won't forget the last time I saw her. I was having to chase Sammy from bothering her during her lesson - maybe that was God's way of letting me know that that would be the last time we saw her. It makes us very sad that she is gone. To Elena's Beautiful Children and Family, I worked with Elena on and off for the last 28 years. Elena was sunshine on a rainy day and now her rainbow will spread over us. May you find peace knowing you were all the love of Elena's Life. The following was given to me when my brother passed and I read it everyday.

Carmelita, Maggie, Daniel and Jose I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved mother. I know no words can possibly ease the pain you are feeling from losing your mom but know she is in a happier place now. She will be your angel now. There will be days that you feel you want to give up, but you all need to be strong for your kids. God will give you the strenght you need to continue through life without your mother, cause he has given me that. Your mom was a really great person and she always had a big smile on her face.
