Elvira Ramirez Obituary
March 25, 1937 - April 12, 2022
Kansas City, Missouri - Elvira B. Ramirez, 85, of Kansas City, MO., passed away on 4/12/2022 at Kansas City Hospice House. Formerly "Sister Ann Christine", of Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, gave her life to public service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Antonia Ramirez, and 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by sisters; Rachel Segura, Virginia Chambers, Patricia Davis, brother; John Ramirez, sisters-in-law; Anita (Tavi) Ramirez and Barbara (Ramon, Jr.) Ramirez, close friend; Rochelle Trigg, and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 am at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, 75th & Main St., Kansas City, MO., followed by the Rosary at 10:30 am with Mass at 11:00 am. I want to pay tribute to a colleague, mentor and friend. Many years ago Elvira taught me the ropes as the new Director of the Children with Special Needs Program in Kansas and demonstrated how much she cared for the children and families she served in the Kansas City office at the KUMC. She was also a great partner as we worked together in the federal Region VII sponsored Public Health Social Work Institute at the University of California, Berkeley. I remember how each year, after the Institute, she and Rochelle made their annual journey to Mexico stopping at a monastery in California along the way.
