Erich Krumm Obituary
February 27, 1971September 15, 2002 Dr. Erich Richard Krumm, 31, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2002, at his parents' home after a courageous, four-year battle with melanoma cancer. Friends may call on Thursday, September 19, 2002, with visitation from 6-7 p.m. and a Memorial Service celebrating Erich's life beginning at 7 p.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 10100 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Graveside services will be held Friday, September 20, 2002, 11 a.m., at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Erich was born on February 27, 1971, in Kansas City, MO, St. Luke's Hospital, to James and Shirley Krumm. He was a twin. He was a Board Certified Family Practice Physician. He lived most of his life in Louisburg, KS, and for the last few years in Brookside. He was a member of the Louisburg Christian Church. He was a 1989 graduate of Louisburg High School. He attended Johnson County Community College, and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1993. He then attended the University of Kansas Medical School and graduated in 1997. He completed a three-year Residency in Family Practice at St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, IN, in 2000 and began his association with Olathe Family Practice in 2000. He was a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Wilderness Medical Society and Medical Missions International. Erich was very committed to medical mission work and made trips to Africa and Jamaica to provide medical services. He was an avid traveler and outdoorsman. He loved being in the mountains, hiking, biking, and camping during his free time. Erich especially enjoyed the times he played intramural basketball while in medical school and residency, and he was an enthusiastic tennis player. He took great pride in being a KU graduate and loved Kansas Jayhawk basketball. Erich was an inspiration to many during his battle with cancer and he lived life to the fullest. His many friends will miss him. Preceding him in death were his maternal and paternal grandfathers, Jesse F. Miller and Luverne L. Krumm. Erich is survived by his parents, James and Shirley Krumm of Louisburg, KS; his brother, Dr. Berent Krumm and wife Betsi Brooks Krumm, Kansas City, MO, and their children, Mackenzie and Kennedy Krumm; his grandmothers, Christine Miller of Kennewick, WA, and Agnes Krumm of Moses Lake, WA; his uncles and aunts, James & Mary Helen Miller, Longview, WA, Betty Hawkins, Richland, WA, Jessie McDonald, Riverside, CA, and Jack and Rosalie Krumm, Moses Lake, WA; his cousins, Connie & Bob Brockman and sons Alex and Cody of Richland, WA, Kelley Hawkins, Richland, WA, Darci & Tim Suttle, Olympia, WA, James Miller, Longview, WA, Derek Brown, Pullman, WA, Debbie & Brian Brindle, Mill Creek, WA, and Becky & John Yates, Spanaway, WA. Also surviving is good friend Brent Suiter, whom the family wants to recognize for his extraordinary compassion and caring for Erich and help to the family during Erich's illness.
