Ernest Buxton Obituary

Ernest L. "Bill" Buxton, 78, Grain Valley, MO, passed away Jan. 10, 2009. Services will be 2 p.m., Wed., Jan. 14, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; interment at Blue Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to Eastside Baptist Church, 19901 E. 78 Hwy., Independence, MO 64057. Ernest was born Oct. 20, 1930 and spent his entire life in the Independence/Grain Valley area. He was a crane operator and a member of the Operating Engineers Local #101 for sixty years. Many of his co-workers knew him as Bill. He retired in 1993 but still worked on a part-time basis, most recently for Midland Professionals. He was a member of the church. Ernest was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Vivian Buxton, in 2003; his sons Ernest Buxton, Jr. in 2004, and Allen Buxton in 2006. He is survived by son Rick Buxton and wife Kathy, Grain Valley, MO; grandchildren Shawn Buxton and wife Janell, Polo, MO; Valerie Buxton, St. Joseph, MO; Brad Buxton and wife Michelle, Buckner, MO; Kim Buxton-Jordahl and husband Josh, Independence, MO; Tonya Buxton, Sweet Springs, MO; and eight great- grandchildren. Arrangements: Speaks Suburban Chapel. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.speakschapel.com.

I worked with 'Ernie' at Midland for 7 yrs. A wonderful man. Very enjoyable to work with. He will be missed.

Bill Buxton family - Our hearts, love and prayers go out to each of you during this difficult time. We will always rembember how your Dad kept in touch with my husband - Bob Coffey up to and during his last days. Bob and your Dad were great friends for a lot of years.
