EUGENE LEIMKUEHLER Obituary

Eugene F. (Gene) Leimkuehler, 81, of Marshall, Mo., died Monday, February 1, 2010, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshall, with Rev. Douglas A. Dubisar officiating. Visitation will be held 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial with military rites will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or The Ronald McDonald House. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com Born March 2, 1928, in Saline City, Mo., he was the son of the late Edward Paul Leimkuehler and Emma Bender Leimkuehler. On Dec. 2, 1951, he married Lilly Schroeder who survives of the home. He had lived in Marshall most of his life and was owner/operator of Economy Cleaners in Marshall. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of American Legion Post 191 in Marshall. Additional survivors include his children, Debra Newton and husband Danny of Marshall, Randy Leimkuehler and wife Charlotte of Fayette, Mo., Neil Leimkuehler and wife Joyce of Kansas City, Mo., and Ronald Leimkuehler and wife Debbie of St. Charles, Mo.; grandchildren, Timothy Gunn and wife Malinda, Kim Harris and husband Howard, Jr., Holly Burch and husband Doug, and Aaron, Susan, Katie, Rachel and Jenna Leimkuehler; great-grandchildren, Jared, Haley and Caleb Harris and Lauren, Sarah and Emily Gunn; step grandchildren, Robin Heinzler and husband Jimmy and Lynne Harper and husband Chris; step great-grandchildren, Hayley, Stephanie, Canaan, Amber, Ryan and Nick; two brothers, Edward H. Leimkuehler of Independence, Mo., and Irwin R. Leimkuehler of Harrisonville, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Burks, Mae Thornton and Olinda Kiso, two sisters in infancy, and three brothers, Clarence Leimkuehler, Leroy Leimkuehler and Leland Leimkuehler.

my name is lindsay schultz i was a nurse tech on the 11th floor at north kansas city hospital, i took care of mr. leimkuehler quite a bit a night during his stay. from what i got to know of him and his family you were all very nice people and he was very sweet and cute man.... i am very sorry for you loss.
