Eugenia Davis Obituary

August 3, 1939September 27, 2003 Eugenia "Jean" Davis was the oldest of seven siblings. She was born August 3, 1939, to the union of Carl and Edith Suggs. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, MO, where she attended both East and Lincoln High Schools. Eugenia married Willie Townsend Sr. and to this union came Teena Townsend, Dara Lynn Strickland, Willie Townsend Jr., Carla Jean Townsend, and Kimberly Townsend. She later married Clarence Davis Jr., her husband of 27 years, and to this union came C. Lamont Davis, Carlton Davis, and two adopted children, Dennis Davis and Danita Davis. Her favorite pastimes were fishing, cooking, reading and gardening. Eugenia gave her life to Christ in 1985. She joined Grace Community Baptist Church in 2001, and was a faithful and devoted member. She truly loved the Lord, and never missed a service when her health permitted. She once came to Sunday service after being released from the hospital on Saturday. Immediate family members who preceded her in death were her father, Carl Suggs; her mother, Edith Suggs; one daughter, Carla Jean Townsend; one sister, Henrine Murray; and one grandson, Christopher Townsend. Eugenia departed this life on September 27, 2003, reaching her heavenly home to behold her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving husband, Clarence Davis Jr.; four daughters, Teena Townsend of Aurora, CO, Dara Lynn Strickland of Kansas City, MO, Kimberly Townsend and Danita Davis, both of Kansas City, MO; four sons, Willie Townsend Jr. of Kansas City, MO, C.
