TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF FLORENCE BURKE DUSSELIER. I WAS IN SHOCK WHEN I HEARD OF FLORENCE DEADTH. SHE HAD WRITTEN TO ME A SHORT TIME AGO AND SAID SHE HAD FALLEN AND WAS IN HOSPITAL A SHORT TIME. I CALLED HER A SHORT TIME LATER AND SHE TOLD SHE WAS COOKING AND FEELING GOOD AGAIN. She did say she sold her car.
I knew Florence all my life as her parents and mine were both from Belgium and played cards together (mostly in winter) and had lots of great parties (weddings, etc.) at her home and ours. Also we went ice skating on their pond, etc. Mary, her sister was maid of honor in my oldest sisters wedding, Julma DePont Rhodes. I knew their was a nun in the family and Hank and all would come out to visit my brother, Frank DePont on their motorcycles, etc.
I hope you all know how much I enjoyed talking to Florence on the phone from Florida where my husband and I and family moved to in l957. I always got to see her at my sisters, Margaret and Steves home when they had the dinners when I came to Kansas City (almost every year) when my folks were alive. So we kept in touch for all these years.
Could you tell me about her brother George who lived fairly close to her in Lee Summit. He was ill awhile back.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all
at this time, but know you like I have so many good memories of Florence.
Luv,
Clara DePont Wiggins
