Frank McKelvy Obituary

Frank Bray McKelvy
January 9, 2022
Overland Park, Kansas - Frank Bray McKelvy Jr. has gone to be with the love of his life. Frank passed away at his home January 9, 2022 with his family at his side. Frank was born to Sarah Lee and Frank B. McKelvy, Sr. in Cleveland Ohio on February 16, 1931.
He married his high school sweetheart Betty Creswell in 1949 in Milan Tennessee. Milan remained their hometown for their entire life, no matter where they lived. They were happily married for 72 years and had 3 children. Frank worked for Procter & Gamble his entire career, and they lived in Milan TN, Cincinnati Ohio, Prairie Village Kansas, Mexico City, Mexico, back to Cincinnati and finally Lenexa Kansas where they retired in 1992. In 1994 they began dividing their time between K.C. and Port Isabel, Texas. In 2016 they moved permanently to Port Isabel.
Frank was an army corporal in the Korean War, where he served with the 2998th Engineer Company and earned 2 bronze stars, the Korean Service Medal and the Sigmon Rhee medal. In 2019, Frank was on an honor flight from San Antonio, Texas to Washington, DC with his great friend Richard Deitrick.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, his son Frank B. (Mac) McKelvy III, his brother Robert McKelvy, and sister Sara Jane Holliday.
Left to cherish his memory are his family, Sally Haun(David), Jane Corbin(Ted), Bridget McKelvy Ward(Rick) Dennis Maurer, and Reggie McKelvy. Also 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was well loved and will be greatly missed by all. He will always be remembered as "the man, the myth, the legend" and as the "King". Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, send contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Sally and Jane, I am so sorry to hear about Frank's passing. So many memories of he and your mother. It was quite a clan we had growing up on 78 Terr. Continue to surround yourself with the love and hugs of your family and friends. Cheers to Frank
