Frederick Cochran Obituary

Frederick A. "Fred" Cochran, age 79, of Marceline, MO, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at his home. Fred was born at Marceline, MO, on June 22, 1924, to James Sylvester and Ida Florence (Law) Cochran. Fred attended the Kansas City Art Institute and as an artist had shows in Kansas City, New York, Omaha, and Dallas. He designed the envelope for Walt Disney First Edition Stamp, and did murals for Muehlebach Hotel. He also worked in the art department at Herff Jones in Marceline for many years. He lived in Omaha for a few years and was a Marceline resident most of his life. He is survived by one brother, Robert L. Cochran, Scottsdale, AZ; two sisters, Peggy Hoeppner, Raytown, MO, and Gladys Jefferson, Independence, MO. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and greatgreat-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, James Herbert "Herb" Cochran, Clarence L. "Bud" Cochran, Joseph Sherman Cochran, sister, Mabel L. Stella, stepbrother, Wayne E. Thomas, and stepmother, Mary Ann Thomas Cochran. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline, with Rev. Jim Collins officiating; burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Marceline. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until time of service.
