Frieda Schmidt

Frieda Schmidt, 87, of Nevada, Mo., passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 28, at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Mo. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. preceding the service. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, October 29, in Johannestal Cemetery in Hillsboro, Kan. Frieda was born on July 18, 1920, in Lehigh, Kan., the daughter of Reinhold and Anna (Wedel) Guhr. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed quilting and growing flowers. Frieda was baptized in April of 1960 and was a member of the Living Church of God. She was also a member of the Pueblo Club. Frieda was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin A. Schmidt on July 19, 2007; a son, Phillip in 1975; two brothers, Jacob Guhr in 1974 and Henry Guhr in 1995. Her survivors include four sons: Richard Schmidt of Nevada, Mo., Calvin Schmidt and his wife Judith, of Nevada, Mo., Wayne Schmidt and his wife Patty, of Moscow, Idaho, and James Schmidt and his wife Venita, of Grain Valley, Mo.; two daughters: Nadine Szymkowiak of Independence, Mo., and Elaine DenHouter and her husband Dan, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; one brother: Herbert Guhr of Hillsboro, Kan.; 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
